Obituary of Philip A. Young

Philip A. Young, 60, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Corning Guthrie Hospital, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born in Elmira on December 24, 1960, the son of David E. and Harriet M. Young, and graduated from Odessa-Montour High School. Phil's mischievous grin and drive to explore was a joy to all who knew him. He was a generous and accepting friend. Phil, you are leaving a hole that cannot be filled. You lived your faith everyday through good times and bad with your beloved Rose at your side. You leave three beautiful daughters and a host of loyal friends and family behind. We look forward to see you running on the beach, healthy and whole as it says in Revelation 21:3-4, "neither death…nor pain will be anymore, the former things have passed away." Phil owned and operated Montour Muffler & Brake for 28 years. He was a member of the Watkins Glen Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Phil was a talented welder, he enjoyed the beach, boating, and anything outdoors with his family. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Rose; three daughters, Philesha Shoats, Chevonne Shoats and Nakeya Young; parents, David and Harriet Young of Rock Stream; a sister, Rebecca (Michael) Voorhees of Montour Falls; a brother, Stanley (Jodi) Young of Big Flats; and by many beloved family members.
