Obituary of Mary Yvonne Cole

Mary Yvonne Cole, 85, of Watkins Glen, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 11, 2021. She was born in Moorefield, West Virginia on October 23, 1935 the daughter of the late Lisle and Anna Virginia Anderson. Yvonne graduated from Odessa High School, where she was a member of the High School Drama Club and Chorus. She was a lifelong homemaker, always taking care of her family. Yvonne loved music throughout her life. She accompanied her chorus in high school, and was the musical director and organist at several churches in the area. She and her husband Albert sang and ministered to a variety of nursing homes and churches over the years. Yvonne also taught piano lessons and worked for a short time at Kelley Music in the 1970's. She was a member of the Van Etten Assembly of God. She is survived by two daughters, Jackie (Stanley) Cernik of Watkins Glen and Pattie (Rudy) Difiglia of Candor; two sons, Dennis (Nancy) Cole of Odessa and Mike (Michele) Cole of Watkins Glen; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very dear and close niece, Judy Benton of Horseheads. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Albert Cole; four brothers and two sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A graveside service will follow in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Schuyler Ambulance, 909 S. Decatur St. Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
