Obituary of Janice F. Wickham

Janice F. Wickham, 93, of Montour Falls, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021in Ithaca. She was born in Alexandria Bay, NY on November 30, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Hazel Simpkins. Janice worked at Remington-Rand, Diamond Matches Factory, Seneca Lodge, White City Cabins, was a waitress, and a dietary aide at Schuyler Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Odessa Catharine United Methodist Church. Janice enjoyed camping, Blue Grass festivals, rummage sales, gardening, farming, cooking, baking and dancing. She also liked outdoor family picnics, swimming, decorating, animals, shopping, eating out at restaurants. She was a Cub Scout leader and 4-H leader at one time. She is survived by her daughter, Janice J. (Kevin) Donahue of Burdett; son, Rodney J. (Sybil) VanHouten of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Nancy (Ralph) Fearon-Ehlert of Peoria, AZ; two brothers, Richard (Pearl) Simpkins of Rochester and Robert (Nita) Simpkins of Inverness, FL; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Gilbert) Ferrel and William (Kelli Jo) VanHouten all of Cheyenne, WY, Brieanna (Joe) Colonial and Megan Donahue both of Trumansburg; seven great grandchildren, Caylee, Fenna and Kennedi VanHouten, Ayden and Gavin Colonial, Avieya and Iyana Donahue. She was predeceased by her husband Loyal Wickham in 2008 and son, Douglas R. VanHouten in 2007. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
