Obituary of George W. Everett Jr.

George W. Everett Jr. went to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 30th, 2021. George was born on September 12th, 1932 in Montour Falls, NY to George W. Everett Sr. and Harriett French. George served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a proud and passionate veteran. George retired from Corning Glass after 50 years. He was a lifelong member of Big Flats American Legion Post#1612. George loved to tell jokes and make people laugh and did so up until his last breath. George is survived by loving wife of 17 years, Hazel Everett. He is also survived by his loving children, Lori Doughty (Robert), Thomas Everett (Melody), Kelie Stansfield (David); eight step children, brother, Robert Everett (Carol) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating George's life will be held at 11am on Friday, February 26th, 2021 at the Higher Hope Church, 356 Maple St., Big Flats, NY 14814. Those in attendance are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing guidelines. George will be placed to rest with full military honors at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira.
