Grace Carolyn Clark Grace Carolyn Clark, 83, of Seneca View, Montour Falls, NY, who previously resided in Dundee, Horseheads, Hammondsport, and Montour Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2013, after a long illness. Carolyn was born in Providence, RI, on March 7, 1930 to Susie and Lloyd Leman. After high school, she married Douglass P. Clark, and they lived in Montour Falls, where they raised their family of seven healthy children. She worked at the old Schuyler Hospital in downtown Montour Falls, before going to work at Cornell University. She retired from Cornell in 1985 to pursue her lifelong dream of serving in the Peace Corps, where she worked for two years in Sierra Leone, Africa. Upon leaving the Peace Corps, Carolyn bought a large house in Hammondsport, NY, where she ran a successful bed and breakfast, Another Tyme, for ten years. After selling the house, she moved to Horseheads, NY, next to her daughter Becky. Carolyn was active in the former St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Montour Falls, and later in St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Hammondsport. She was also a volunteer in the Schuyler County Volunteer Ambulance Association. She was very active in her children's lives as well, making their clothes, teaching them to cook, and doing craft projects with them. She is famous for the elaborate birthday cakes she made for her family. She also was active in the PTA and served as a Girl Scout and a 4-H club leader. She loved gardening, painting, sewing, and traveling. Besides Sierra Leone, she visited Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Brazil, Ireland, and Israel. She is survived by her children: Deborah (Eric) Kantor of Albany, NY, Douglass Scott (Eva) Clark of Corpus Christi, TX, Kimberly Snell of Middletown, RI, Barbara (Michael) Fetterolf of Hortonville, WI, and Kelly Stone of Rock Stream, NY; her son-in-laws, Stewart P. Green of Sebring, FL and Glenn Marrlow of Jacksonville, NC; 17 grandchildren: Jonathan and Benjamin Kantor, Logan and Darrell Clark, Christina Clark Perez, Stewart D. and Kelly Green, Sarah Marrlow, Mark and Daniel Flahive, Andrew and Alex Snell, Megan Fetterolf Gallagher, Jay and Anna Fetterolf, and Mackenzie and Hannah Stone; and her very dear friend Virginia Eaton. Carolyn was pre-deceased by the love of her life-her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Douglass P. Clark; here daughters, Rebecca Ruth Green and Jennifer Ann Marrlow; her parents, Lloyd Leman and Susie Leman Poppleston; her sister, Barbara Cole Simmons; her mother-in-law Ruth Riley Clark ("Mimi"); and her beloved dog Polly. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM on Friday, August 23 at Vedder & Scott Funeral Home in Montour Falls, NY.
