Obituary of Edward A. Vaughn
Edward A. Vaughn, Sr., 76 of Montour Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at home. He was born on April 5, 1944 in Caton, the son of the late Tracy Redfield Vaughn and Frances Edith Galpin. On December 11, 1965 he married, Angelita White in Watkins Glen. Ed served with the US Army in Germany from 1962-1965.
Ed worked Watkins Glen International Salt Company from 1965-2008, retiring after 44 years of service. He attended both St. John's and St. James' Episcopal Churches in Schuyler County. He was a member of the Odessa Fire Department and hose team, Am-vets, Montour Moose Lodge, Watkins Glen Elks Lodge, and the Mechanics Club.
Ed is survived by his former wife and best friend, Angelita; daughters, Diana (William) Vaughn-Russell, Deborah (Mark) Holton, and Jan (Scott) Vaughn-Young; a son, Edward (Susan) Vaughn, Jr.; son-in-law, Edward Overhiser; sister, Elizabeth (Vaughn) Badmone); fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Brady Vaughn in 2001; a daughter, Kathleen (Vaughn) Overhiser in 2013; and by eight siblings.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in his memory to St. James Episcopal Church, or to the Bath VA. Arrangements are under the direction of Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
