Obituary of Gloria J. Hutchings

Gloria J. Hutchings, 75, of Montour Falls, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Gloria was born in Montour Falls on May 21, 1942, the oldest daughter of the late Delos and Betty Owen. She is survived by her children, Jim (Evelyn) Hunter of NY, NY, Karen Hunter (Bill Teemley) of Burdett, NY, and Michelle Hunter of Elmira, NY; three grandsons, Ryan (Tawny) Cilley, Brandon (Caitlin) Cilley, and Jesse Hunter; five great grandchildren, Alayah, Eli, Liviana, Odin and Oliver; five siblings, Ginny (Jerry) Costley, Linda (John) Bernas, Pam (Steve) Gardner, Bruce (Mary) Owen, and Dawn (Jim) Hines; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents as well as a beloved Aunt, Reva Goundrey, whom she helped care for many years Gloria retired in 2002 after 25 years from Southern Tier Central Planning Board. She enjoyed being a Longaberger Consultant for several years and cherished her handmade baskets. She was a dedicated member of Southern Finger Lakes Women (Formerly BPW) and served in local and District officer positions, and was named their Woman of the Year in 2005. She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fern Chapter #142, and the Montour Falls Moose. She was a member of the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church for many years and served as finance secretary and Parish Treasurer. She donated a remarkable 10 gallons of blood in her lifetime. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 10-11 am at the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, 305 Church St., Odessa. Services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 203, Odessa, NY 14869. Arrangements are under the care of Vedder and Scott Funeral Home in Montour Falls.
