Obituary of George Brown

George A. Brown Age 97, of Watkins Glen, NY and Winter Haven, FL, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Winter Haven Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Pamela Watson Brown, his first wife, Lillian Bailey Brown, and his son, Garry Brown. He is survived by his wife, Charlena R. Brown, son Collin Brown (Sandra) of Elmira, granddaughter Stacey Husted (Joel) of Montour Falls, and two great grandchildren, Christopher and Rachel. George was born at St. Andrews, Scotland on July 20, 1915 and came to the United States as an infant and became a US citizen. He graduated from Cook Academy and was employed at Shepard Crane and Hoist, from which he retired. He proudly served in the Navy Sea Bees during WW II, mainly in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Elks Club, Mechanics Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and a past member of the Montour Falls Fire Department. A celebration of George's life will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Watkins Glen Presbyterian Church.
