Obituary of James Dutton

James Dutton, 89, of Beaver Dams, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at home. He was born in the Town of Catlin on January 17, 1928, the son of the late Robert Dutton and Margaret Dutton Duke. He graduated from Northside High School and served with the US Navy during WWII. Jim was self-employed as a bricklayer, as well as worked for various construction companies over the course of his career. He was formerly the assessor for the Town of Dix, and was owner and operator of Dutton Sport Shop and Dutton Rest Home. He was a member of the Beaver Dams United Methodist Church and the Beaver Dams Fire Department. Jim was very active as a leader in the Boy Scouts and 4-H, and snowmobile safety course instructor. He is survived by his wife, Dolores L. (Deats) Dutton; daughters, Diane Pike, Dawn Dobson, and Denise (Brian) Gardner; sons, Daniel (Cheri) Dutton and Douglas (Linda) Dutton; sisters, Daisy (Gerald) Savory and Dorothy Griffin; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Emelia, Derek, Lindsey, Kristina, Shoshanna, Tabitha, Jarrid, Matthew, Alexandria, Maxwell and Ashley; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, David J. Dutton and a brother, Robert Dutton. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shelly and Elvera for their kind and loving care given to Jim during his illness and passing. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 6632 State Route 96A, Romulus. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Beaver Dams United Methodist Church, 1285 County Road 19, Beaver Dams. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim's life following the service from 4-6 pm at the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Beaver Dams United Methodist Church.
