Obituary of John A. Davis

John A. Davis, Sr., 71, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at home. He was born in Ithaca on October 13, 1945, the son of the Late Walter LeRoy Davis, Sr., and Isabella Rose Landon Davis. John served with the US Army from 1965-1967. On August 22, 1970, he married the former Carol A. Jandrew in Farmersville, NY. John worked as a truck driver until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Watkins Glen. John was predeceased by his father, Walter Davis on April 5, 1981, mother Isabella Landon Davis on August 24, 1985; son, Christopher Davis on July 30, 1985, and brother, Walter Davis, Jr. on June 23, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol; two daughters, Teresa (Alan) Winnie of Alpine, and Donna Davis of Watkins Glen; one son, John (Sarah) Davis, Jr.; five sisters, Sandra Davis of Montour Falls, Diane (Randy) Carns of Winterhaven, FL, Carol (Wayne) Kinner of Cayuta, Cindy Miller of MA, and Becky (James) Johnston of TN; five brothers, Dana (Carol) Davis of Cripple Creek, CO, Dale (Kathy) Davis of Alpine, Harry (Gloria) Davis of Watkins Glen, David (Daine ) Davis of Odessa, and Ransome Davis of Odessa; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 2-4 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2590 State Route 414, Watkins Glen.
