Obituary of Leo J. Fraboni

Leo J. Fraboni, 83, of Conway, SC, and formerly of Montour Falls, NY, and Avery Island, LA, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. He was born in Watkins Glen on October 15, 1933, the son of the late Leo H. Fraboni and Elizabeth (Kurtz) Reed. Leo served with the US Army from 1954-1957, where he received the Good Conduct Medal and Sharp Shooter Medal. He married Emily Louise (Trank) Fraboni on February 14, 1959 in the Town of Birdsall, NY. They were married for 49 years until Emily passed away on February 16, 2008. Leo worked for Akzo Nobel, Inc. in Watkins Glen as an electrician and foreman, and later in Avery Island, LA, where he was maintenance superintendent. He retired on May 1, 1996. He was formerly the Secretary for the United Mine Workers, a Red Cross first aid instructor, and worked for the ambulance service for several years. In his younger years, he managed the youth center, and coached softball and small fry baseball. Leo was a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus for 18 years. Leo is survived by his children, John (Linda) Fraboni of Myrtle Beach, SC, Raymond (Peggy) Fraboni of Elmira, and Josepha Lea Wegner of Conway, SC; sisters and brothers, Helene Fraboni, Jean (Fran) Parker, Richard (Virginia) Fraboni, James (Connie) Fraboni, and Kenny Paul Fraboni; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandchild, Noel Fraboni, siblings, Mary Fraboni, Roma Fraboni Cunningham, Benjamin Fraboni and Anthony Fraboni and daughter-in-law, Connie VanDuzer Fraboni. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 2-4 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Dundee.
