Obituary of John M. Buckbee

John M. Buckbee, 82, of Odessa, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born in Catharine, NY on January 2, 1935, the son of George W. States, Sr., and Dorothy J. States and graduated from Odessa High School. John worked at one time for Tompkins Trust Co. in Odessa, Cornell University, and at the Corning Store in Watkins Glen. He was a member of the Glen Baptist Church. John liked to do crafts, play bingo, word search puzzles, and enjoyed reading. He was an avid sports fan and avid Broncos fan. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and Cornell Hockey games. John used to love working with boy scouts, and chaperoned the Squires Drum and Bugle Corps. John loved his diet root beer and chocolate milk, but above all else, he loved his family. He is survived by two sisters, Madelon L. Page of Cayuta, and Marian Morris of Painted Post; a brother, Claude (Patricia) States of Lynwood, WA; several nieces and nephews; and by special friends, Pete and Jo McBride. He was predeceased by his parents, baby sister, Dorothy, and by his brother, George W. States, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 2-4 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Watkins Glen.
