Obituary of Philip Biever

Philip A. Biever, 58, of Burdett, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday January 10, 2017. Philip graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1976. He graduated from Finger Lakes Community College in 1979 with an associates degree in Forestry and Conservation. Phil was also a member of the Burdett Fire Department. As a hardworking man, Phil dedicated 31 years to the highway department. He was an avid hunter with his dog, Brewster and enjoyed spending time with his family. Phil is survived by his wife Sherry of 35 years, his daughter Lydia (Thomas), son Peter, parents Pierre and Geta Biever, brother Mark (Sharon) Biever, nephews Philip and Ryan Biever, in-laws John (Margaret) Strong and many other family members. He was a loving husband, father, and a friend to all. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Hector. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Burdett Volunteer Fire Department, 3830 Willow St., Burdett, NY 14818.
