Obituary of Kathleen Beardsley

Kathleen "Sis" Beardsley, age 66, of Schuyler County, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Schuyler Hospital's Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, under the loving care of the Skilled Nursing Staff. Kathleen was born in Montour Falls, New York on March 16, 1950. She is survived, for now, by her mother Rhoda Sara Geyer Beardsley of New Port News, VA; her brother Bob of Watkins Glen, NY; her brother Chris (Donna Sue) of New Port News, VA; nieces Alicia, Amber, Sara and Becky; nephews Shane and Brian and a loving total of 13 grandnieces and nephews. Kathleen was a member of St. Mathew's Episcopal Church in Horseheads, NY. Graduating from OMCS with the class of 1968, Kathleen graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Nursing in 1972 and then furthered her education/skills by serving in the United States Army, primarily based out of Fort Knox, Kentucky. Following a career in primary nursing in Portland, Oregon, Kathleen obtained her Masters at the University of Maryland teaching hospital in downtown Baltimore. She returned to the Pacific Northwest and Portland, finishing her career with work based out of Emmanuel Hospital there. She retired to Schuyler County, living in her Beardsley grandparents' home on Sixth Street in Watkins Glen before relocating to Seneca View. Kathleen was a distinguished and published critical care nurse, lecturer, advocate and friend to her profession. She enjoyed reading and sharing her passion for the education process involved with the Bible. She has donated hundreds of Bibles and related publications as a part of that interest. The last weeks of her remarkable journey while still living involved reunions with high school, college, professional and community people who she loved and enjoyed very, very much. There will be a reunion for Kathleen Beardsley at St. James Episcopal Church in Watkins Glen at 10 am on Saturday morning, the 15th of October, 2016, followed by a service there at 11 am. The service will be conducted by The Rev. Wanda Copeland, and will be followed by a lunch of all that Sis's beloved "Mr. Chicken" has to offer! In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
