Obituary of Margarita Hayes

Margarita "Margie" Ramirez Hayes, 82, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Schuyler Hospital, under the benevolent care of Dr. Blanche Borzell, her doctor and friend for over 20 years. She was born in Marion, Texas on August 9, 1934. Margie was a member of the Red Hat Society, Quilt Guild, and the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and handcrafts. Margie always had a smile on her face. She was loved very much by her friends and family, and will be greatly missed. She was joyfully reunited with her husband Skip Hayes, son, Jeffrey B. Hayes, grandson, Zachary A. Hayes, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hayes. She is survived by Jesse A. Hayes of Ithaca, John C. Hayes of Watkins Glen, Linda M. (Kirk) Smith of Montour Falls, and Christina S. (James) Inman of Lansing; daughter-in-law, Betty Hayes of Montour Falls; her cousins that were like brother and sisters to her, Margarito Ramirez of Sequin, TX, Linda (Frank) Moreno of New Braunfels, TX, and Frances (Jack) Rodriguez of Marion, TX; sisters-in-law, Jean Morris of Seneca Falls and Jewell Hayes of Mt. Upton, NY; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and special cousin, Ruth Hayes. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 1-2 pm at the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, 305 Church St., Odessa. A celebration of Margie's life will follow at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church.
