Obituary of James Kuttner

James D. Kuttner, 73, a lifelong resident of Montour Falls, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, New York. Jim was born on February 14, 1943, the son of the late Richard and Theresa (Dick) Kuttner. He was a rural carrier with the United States Postal Service in Montour Falls, retiring in 2007. In earlier years, he was employed with Shepard Niles Crane & Hoist in Montour Falls, and at one time owned a full service Mobil Gas Station in Montour Falls. Jim was a member of the Montour Falls Volunteer Fire Department for 50+ years. In addition, he was an active member of the Montour Moose Lodge and former member of the Mechanics Club. He was an avid wood cutter, enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and fishing. Jim was very well known for his infectious smile and deep love for his family. He found great enjoyment giving his grandchildren a ride on one of his many John Deere tractor's. He is survived by his children, Sue Pace (Dave Flavin) of Watkins Glen, Tammy Voorheis (Bobby Jaynes) of Erin, Sharon M. Wiedemer (Tom) of Montour Falls, and James M. Kuttner (Patty) of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Amanda, George, Sheyanne, Jeremy, Miranda, Brennan, Sara; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley M. Kuttner on January 17, 2016, and by his brother, Leo V. Kuss, of Elmira, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Hope Cemetery, Park Avenue & Evergreen Drive, South Corning.
