Obituary of Carlton Barney
Carlton D. Barney, 80, a longtime resident of Beaver Dams, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. He was born in Corning on June 22, 1936, the son of the late Carl and Minnie (Ball) Barney and attended school at North Side Blodgett through the eighth grade. Carlton was employed with Corning, Inc., Fallbrook Plant, and was a 1st class carpenter with Bob Perry Construction for 25 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Addison Fish and Game, Corning Fish and Game, and Grace Baptist Church.
Carlton is survived by his wife, LaRae J. Barney; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin Barney, Tim (Kathy) Barney, and Dennis (Lisa) Barney; sisters, Margaret Sovka, Betty Stermer, and Irma Blank; brother, Paul Barney; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Rhodes.
There will be a casual gathering for family and friends on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the home of Denny and Lisa Barney, 1245 Cr 19, Beaver Dams. Burial will be in Beaver Dams Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the NRA. Carlton's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Seneca View for the care given to him during his time at the nursing home.
