Dear Pat, I just saw the notice of Gene's passing on this website. I'm a person in your past who wants you to know how sorry I am for your loss. There is no pain like it. May you know God's peace and strength through this. Your friend long ago, Judy Harrington White-Wunder.

I only knew Gene a few short years, but the friendship grew fast. Gene was another reason I stayed "off the porch" Sunday mornings and sat in the pew; then getting even more involved - which I vowed I wouldn't do. Quiet, but when he gave advice you listened. Always, a firm hand shake. Always great conversation while sitting on his porch.

please accept my condolence. Gene was a very special person who loved his family, church and community. He was humble and selfless, quiet and gentle, a true servant of God, He will be missed.

The Gates of Heaven opened on Saturday for the most gentle, warmhearted and loving man in our area. I remember him opening his heart and home to three more girls years ago. When his home was already full of the laughing and giggles from his four girls. What joyous times we had with the Best Dads and Moms who let us run and get as dirty and as wet as we could. Wonderful memories. He opened his heart once more to our little girl for she wanted to join the Odessa Fire Department. I will always be grateful to him for looking out for her when. With joy I know we will join them all one day and run and play again. Love to all of you and prayers for the strength you need to get through the next few days.
