Obituary of Ruth Bernard
Our mother, Ruth Cheeseman Bernard passed from this earth on October 24, 2013. She was born on January 19, 1920 to Edgar and Winifred (Huson) Cheeseman. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John Bernard, brother Edgar James Cheeseman, and two sisters; Mary Parsons and Anna Ashley.
She is survived by seven children; Dorothy Gross, Norwich, NY, Carmen Mills, Johnson City, NY, Karen (Rick) Reisinger, Watkins Glen, NY, Shirley McMullin, Lake Stevens, WA, Rudy (Diane) Bernard, Vestal, NY, Mitchell Bernard, Oxford, NY, and Douglas (Tina) Bernard, Binghamton, NY. Also survived by four sister, Alma Wells, Vestal, NY, Edna Reese, Binghamton, NY, Sara Hastings, Binghamton, NY, and Vera (Ken) Cornwell, Newark Valley, NY, one brother Albert (Rose) Cheeseman, Harpursville, NY, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Windsor High School in 1938, married her husband John Bernard, and raised their children on a small dairy farm. She worked at Endicott Johnson shoe factory in Johnson City for ten years prior to moving to Florida in 1972, where she enjoyed swimming at Crystal Springs every day. Ruth enjoyed a full and long life.
