Obituary of Janet Hoxie
Janet Mary (Johnson) Hoxie, 64, of Citra, FL (formerly of Montour Falls, NY) returned home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, after a stoic battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving daughter, Julie Ann (Hoxie) Charbonneau and her husband Joe, her three grandchildren, Abby, Zoe, and Alexis all of West Hills, CA; her identical twin sister, Joyce (Tom) Carson of Montour Falls, NY, her sister Betty (David) Scott of Montour Falls, NY, her sister Beverly (George) Courtwright of Lodi, NY, her sister Donna Hover of Citra, FL, her sister (estranged) Kathy (Bob) VanAmburg of Watkins Glen, NY, her brother Harry (Robin) Johnson, Jr. of Millport, NY, her sister Barbara (Mike) Hessling of Waterford, CT, and her ex-husband, James R. Hoxie of Montour Falls, NY. She had several dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian (Crout) Johnson of Montour Falls, NY, her father, Harry Johnson, Sr. of Citra, FL, and her step-mother Priscilla (Hatch) Johnson of Citra, FL.
Janet graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1969, the Willard School of Nursing in 1972, and Alfred University with a BS in nursing in 1983. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Willard Psychiatric Center and, upon its closing, at Elmira Psychiatric Center with the Family Care team. After retirement from state service in 2006, she worked at Schuyler Hospital's Seneca View, part time. Her hard work and compassion were well recognized by all who knew her. Janet touched many lives and she cherished and loved their communications, visits, thoughts and prayers. She was a very spiritual person and loved teaching and sharing with others. In her day, she loved reading, learning, painting (walls), knitting, sewing, gardening, crafting, shopping, going for drives, and visiting and dining out with friends.
Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or a funeral service. The family will have a private memorial service to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her generosity, we ask that you donate to the charity of your choice or a cause that is close to your heart.
