Obituary of Mary Hallahan

Mary E. Hallahan, age 96 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt & friend. She went to be with her Lord and heavenly family on Sunday, May 10th, 2015 at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY. Mary was born November 6th, 1918. She is the daughter of George and Sara (Trowbridge) Hurd. She was preceded by her husband, of 47-years, Richard H. Hallahan; son, Richard H. Hallahan III; granddaughter, Aileen Marie Hallahan; sisters, Edna Hurd & Ruth Bauer and brother, George Hurd. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws: Mark and Sheila (Bailey) Hallahan of Horseheads, NY and Michael and Debra (Schresky) of Manchester, NH. Daughter: Mary Catherine Hallahan of Boston, MA. Grandchildren: William Hallahan & Samantha McDaniel of Hot Springs, AR; Richard Hallahan of Manchester, NH and James Hallahan of Dayton Beach, FL; brother & sister-in-law: Walter and Joan Hurd of Huston, TX as well as several nieces, nephews and her very special friends: Rick & Jan Saltsman of Erin, NY. It was mom's wishes there be no calling hours as "I do not want anyone traveling and having an accident because of me". A very special thanks to everyone at The Falls Home, in Montour Falls, where mom has resided for the last 4-years. She loved her "retirement home" and everyone living & working there. Thanks so much for the great care you gave to mom. She loved you all dearly. She prayed daily for her family, friends, fellow residents, the staff and their families, her community and country. We also wish to thank Dr. Ben Saks & Dr. Jagmohan Singh as well as all of the caring angels, at Schuyler Hospital, who took care of mom and all of us especially this last week. Special thanks to Chaplain Jane Winters, Deacon Tom Ruda and Father Rick Farrell for your spiritual support. Her family is very thankful for everything. You are truly a caring hospital. Arrangements are being made through Vedder & Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls, NY. Interment will be at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, NY at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Schuyler Hospital, 220 Steuben Street, Montour Falls, NY 14865 or to a charity of your choice in mom's memory.
