Obituary of William Tinker
William S. Tinker, Jr., age 82, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away on February 6, 2015. He was born in Watkins Glen, NY, the son of William and Lena Tinker. He began his education at the one room schoolhouse in Townsend and was very proud to have earned his high school diploma at age 68. A veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, he is survived by his immediate family Mary Lou Rappleye, Becky Tinker, Ken Pierce, Bill and Jodi Tinker, grandsons Sean and Spencer Tinker, brothers Charlie, Bob and Steve Tinker and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters Vivian Scudder, Virginia Sandusky and Nancy Wheeler. We're gonna miss the S.O.B. (Sweet Old Bill).
Bill was a carpenter by trade and worked for a number of construction companies including Streeter Associates. In retirement Bill owned a locksmith business, helping many people out of difficult and sometimes embarrassing situations. He was a former Governor of the Montour Falls Moose Lodge and a member of the Carpenter's Local 277. Bill was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR and major league baseball, having played as a catcher in the minor leagues in his younger years. Instead of being sad at Bill's passing, raise your glass, give a toast, and tell a Bill story. He would appreciate that.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 1-3 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A service will follow at 3 pm.
