Obituary of Barbara Meder

Barbara Davenport Meder, 65, of Montour Falls, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Schuyler Hospital surrounded by all of her family and friends. Barb was born and raised in Killeen, Texas the daughter of the late Curtis and Inez Hein and later met her husband and moved to New York. She had two children and countless other children that called her mom, and their children called her "Grannie". She would do anything for her kids and grandbabies. She received her GED and then went back to college and took courses in business. For several years she was a member of the Eastern Stars. She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Norm) Nelson of Cayuta; her son, John Edward (Cindy) Steiner of Spencer; nine grandchildren, Tyler Davenport, Timothy, Briana and Victoria Nelson; Fayth Walton-Hilton, Brennan Young, Jeffrey Steiner, Christopher and Savannah Wemmer; and a great grandbaby that was on his way. Also were her "adopted" children; Anne (Ed) Quick of Newfield and their four children, Mike (Wendy) Starks of Cayuta and their two children, Heather Henderson of Odessa, and Melissa (Don) Romans and their 6 children; her aunt, Cricket Parker of Killeen, Texas; and her niece Tiffany Arrombide of Killeen, Texas. She was predeceased by her sister, Teresa Hein-Beach; her granddaughter, Ashley Chyanne Davenport Leonard, and her late husband, Floyd Davenport. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3-5 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St. in Montour Falls. A service will follow at 5:00 pm. Burial will be in Killeen, Texas.
