Obituary of Gerald Vanskiver

Gerald D. VanSkiver, age 78, of Odessa, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Schuyler Hospital. Gerald was born March 16, 1935 in Ridgebury, PA to Fay and Olive VanSkiver. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings Carlton, Don, James, Merle and Fay VanSkiver and Eleanor Driscoll. He is survived by his wife Helen of 60 years; daughters Sharon (Alan) VanSkiver Owens, Elmira Heights, Susan VanSkiver Decker, Horseheads, NY; sons Daniel (Roberta) VanSkiver, Odessa, NY, Mark VanSkiver, SC; sisters Eva Orloski, Wilkes Barre, PA, Mary Jane Doolittle, FL; brother Bernard (Bev) VanSkiver, Horseheads, NY; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gerald was a mechanic for 48 years retiring from Twin Tiers Buick in Elmira, NY. He was also a member of the Mechanics Club and enjoyed woodworking and boating. Family and friends are invited to call at the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls, NY on Saturday, February 22nd from 1 to 4 PM immediately followed by a funeral service.
