Obituary of Mary Vickio

Mary M. (Filippetti) Vickio Our angel Mary has taken her place in the heavenly choir of our lord above on January 3, 2013, born on July 31, 1919 to Thomas and Christine (Martine) Filippetti in Watkins Glen. Mary was predeceased by her parents, brothers: Ernie, Joseph and Thomas, her sister Loretta Vanhorn, niece Patricia Orcut and nephew, David Orcut. Mary is survived by the love of her life, Louis P. Vickio, Sr., who she spent 71 years of marriage with. Daughter - Faith (Charles) Ciprich, their daughter Dolores (William) Hrynko and their children, Desiree Ellison, JACQ Goehner, Victoria Goehner, Bradley Hrynko; their daughter Maria (Scott) Eaton and their son Wyatt; their daughter Claudine (William) Ciprich-Atwood and their children, Morgan Atwood and Charles Eisenhart, his daughter, Sydney Mann-Eisenhart. Son - John L. Vickio, Sr., his son John L. Vickio, Jr., his son Gianni Vickio, daughter Angela Vickio , her son Samuel Smith. Son - Louis P. (Mary) Vickio, Jr., their daughters, Bernadette Vickio, Antoinette Vickio, Juliet Vickio and Natalie Vickio. Son - Edward A. (Linda) Vickio and their children, Brian Vickio, Deanna Marusarz and Gordan Crans. Mary is also survived by her wonderful sisters, Rachel Vickio, Henrietta Crouch, Gloria Menio, and Teresa (Ken) Cope along with many nieces, nephews & cousins. One of Mary's proud accomplishments was to graduate from Elmira College with a BS/MA Degree in Education with 5 certificates from the State of New York. She taught in area schools and for 15 years she and Louie owned a day care where many of the students learned how to count, write their names and add before they entered school. Mary was also a part owner in Vickio's Deerfield Park, a campground. Mary was a life member in the VFW, member of the Women of the Moose, sang in the Saint Mary's Choir, Resurrection Choir and Adult Choir, liturgy committee, Eucharistic minister, prayer leader, and member of Catholic Daughters. Mary loved to play cards with her faithful friends Patricia Hastings, Ginger and Guy Beebe, Cathy Love and Christina (Kelly) Amisano. Mary also loved to watch the Yankees play. She never missed a game, wore Yankee garb when they played and knew every player and their stats. Mary and her sisters would call each other during the games to discuss the plays. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Mary in the link at Saint Mary's Church in Watkins Glen on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Funeral Mass will take place following visitation at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. The family asks in lieu of flowers that one donate to the Catholic Daughters of Saint Mary's Church in Watkins Glen.
