Obituary of Rebecca A. Voorhees

Rebecca Ann (Young) Voorhees, 71, of Montour Falls, NY passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday, October 6, 2024. She was born in Berwick, PA on September 9, 1953, the daughter of David and Harriet Young. She was the secretary and treasurer of Young's Tire in Horseheads, NY. Rebecca was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Rebecca loved and was most known for her joy in caring for people whether cooking, organizing, visiting, or in her ministry work. She especially enjoyed working with her flowers, going for e-bike rides, kayaking, delving into history and traveling. She was passionate about her belief in the Bible and the comfort it provides. That sustained her through this battle and helped her to maintain her peace and dignity while still being able to comfort those who came in order to encourage her. Rebecca is survived by her mother, Harriet Young of Watkins Glen; husband, Michael Voorhees; daughter, Misty (Paul) Sillen of Lodi; son, Brent (Kristen) Voorhees of Montour Falls; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and brother, Stanley (Jodi) Young of Big Flats; and sister-in-law, Rose Young. Rebecca was predeceased by her father, David Young and her brother, Philip Young. Family and friends may call from 12-2 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY 14865. A service will follow. Burial will be held privately in Highland Cemetery.
