Obituary of Cecile M. Veasey

Cecile Marie Veasey, 81 of Alpine, NY passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 surrounded by family. Cecile was born to Frank & Cecile Swansbrough on November 2, 1941 in Caroline Center, NY. Cecile attended Candor Sr. High School. After high school she married Thomas Veasey in March of 1959. They were married for 51 years before Thomas passed away on December 31, 2010. Cecile followed Thomas as a Navy wife and raised five children from New York to California to Japan. After the death of her husband, she spent most of her time with her children and her sister Hazel Veasey. Cecile and Hazel were almost always together until Hazel passed away on July 31, 2022. She loved to play cards, especially the game of 13. Cecile also loved traveling, cooking and baking. She was loving but also a fighter, never wanting to give up. She is survived by her sister, Mary Kirk; her brother, Donald Swansbrough; children: Virginia Veasey-Best and husband Zane, Thomas Veasey Jr. and wife Donna, Timothy Veasey, Valerie Veasey, Jill Veasey-Connors and husband Grant, and Christian Brazerol. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Jacqueline, Tiffany, Kelsey, Samantha, Brooks, Meranda, Thomas III, Jacob, Ashley, Anthony, Aidan and Milo; along with 33 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. Cecile was pre-deceased by her parents, Frank and Cecile Swansbrough; her husband, Thomas Veasey Sr.; brothers: George, Frank, Dick, Herbert, Raymond; and sisters: Lillian, Luella Irene and Hazel. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 2-3 pm at Vedder-Scott and Zinger Funeral Home, 122 North Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. Cecile’s funeral service will begin at 3:00. There will be a graveside service immediately following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Candor, NY. A dinner will be held at approximately 5:00 PM at Living Water Baptist Church, 1405 Taylor Road, Owego, NY.
