Obituary of Christopher A. Franzese

Christopher A. Franzese, owner of the Villager Motel & Glen Manor in Watkins Glen, NY was called home by God surrounded by his loving family at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Chris was born on March 11, 1948, in Montour Falls, NY. He graduated from St. Anthony's of Padua (Watkins Glen) and Elmira College. As a life-long resident of Schuyler County, Chris was dedicated to his family and community. He loved sports; coaching the Watkins Glen Rams Youth Football Team and working for Roger Penske Racing. Chris served as the Town Justice of Reading and Acting Village Justice of Watkins Glen. He was a member of the Watkins Glen School Board, past President of the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce, a founding member and past President of the Schuyler County Lodging Association, and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Montour Falls (#426). Along with his wife, Angie, Chris owned and operated the Villager Motel & Glen Manor for 37 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Angeline J. Franzese, past Chairman of the Schuyler County Legislature, and his daughters, Dr. Christine Franzese (Dr. Michael Shoemaker-Moyle), Helen Franzese, Esq. (Scott Durkin, M.A., Esq.), Dr. Blanche Franzese (Dr. John-David Beuhler), and Angie B. Franzese, his grandchildren, Isadora, Aidan, and Phena (Durkin), Catherine and Christine (Moyle), and Lincoln and Quentin (Beuhler), his brother, Patrick Franzese (Barbara), and sisters, Vallerie Franzese-Lynch, NP, and Elizabeth Franzese, his brother-in-law, Amedeo Fraboni, his sister-in-law, Linda Franzese, his nieces and nephews, Blanche "Ta" Robertson, Esq. (Saif Agha, Esq.), James Robertson (Emily Smith), Frank (Sarah) Fraboni, Kathy (Alan) McBride, Cindy (Brian) Pierce, Liz Fraboni, Mark Franzese, Matt (Christine) Franzese, Mary (Rob) Easton, Michelle (Mark) Simiele, Joseph (Michelle) Lynch, Andrew Franzese, Adam Franzese, and Nancy Franzese, as well as many cousins in Pennsylvania and New York, and his beloved dog, Sally Ann. Chris was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen (Baccile) Franzese, his in-laws, Joseph and Blanche (Karpovich) Borzell, his brother, Victor Franzese, his sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Borzell) Fraboni, LPN, and Dr. Blanche Borzell, his brother-in-law, Dr. James Robertson, and his nephew, Tony Fraboni. A special thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, and his sister, Vallerie, for their excellent and compassionate care. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 2-5 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
