Obituary of Anita M. White

Anita M. (McFall) White, 68, of Burdett, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023. She was born in Corning, New York on May 3, 1954 and graduated from Corning East High School. On February 12, 1972, Anita married Alvin White in Watkins Glen, NY. Anita was a Licensed Insurance Agent Broker. She worked for the Sidle Insurance Agency for 32 years retiring in 2016. She was a member of the Burdett Fire Department Auxiliary for 37 years, Burdett Village Welcoming Committee and the Burdett Youth Committee. She volunteered for the Burdett Village Christmas, Seneca Santa, and Burdett Presbyterian Church. Anita loved living in Burdett and took great pride in her home. She had a great passion for gardening and could always be found outside working in her yard. Anita's decorating over the holidays was legendary with beautiful lights during the Christmas season and the spooky Halloweens that all the neighbor children and adults loved. Anita's hobbies included sewing, crocheting, reading and watching true crime documentaries. She had a passion for giving. She always enjoyed donating handmade baskets, sewing baby blankets, and designing centerpieces for parties and weddings. Anita was a devoted wife, mother and "Mimi", who absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren, all of whom she was so very proud of. Anita was predeceased by Alvin White, her husband of 50 years in 2022, and her grandmother, Nina Hough. She is survived by two daughters: Cassandra (Joe)Pitcher of Ontario, NY, and Melanie (Matthew) Walters of Burdett, NY; five grandchildren; Cody Pitcher, Zachary Pitcher, Joshua Pitcher, Brett Walters, and Alex Walters; uncle, Bill McFall and aunt, Sheila McFall; and cousins, Kevin McFall, Sean McFall, Kelly VanHorn, and Ryan McFall. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Hector, Burdett, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Burdett Presbyterian Church, 3995 Church Street, Burdett, NY 14818 or Burdett Fire Department, 4124 Lake Avenue, Burdett, NY 14818.
