Obituary of Dennis K. Pierce

Dennis K. Pierce, 80, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. He was born in Middle River, Maryland on October 23, 1942, the son of Rush and Lucy Pierce. Dennis was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion, Odessa Lions Club and a Moose Member for 40 + years. He was a dedicated Little League Coach while Keith played. He enjoyed working in the garage with Keith on his latest projects. He loved to do adult coloring books and display them in the hallways of the Middle School Apartments for everyone to enjoy. Dennis also dedicated many years to the Mello-Dears as a driver and helper. He was an avid bowler and was known for his "shit-eating" grin and sense of humor. He was also a United States Army Veteran, serving in Germany. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Coral "Corky" (Bird) Pierce; his daughter: Pamela Sague (Shawn), Endicott, NY; and son, Keith T. Pierce (Kristi), Odessa, NY; sisters: Diane Sclucha (Terry), Owego, NY; Marcia Pierce Root, West Virginia; brothers: James Pierce (Margaret), Candor, NY; Curt Pierce, Valirco, Florida; grandchildren: Matthew Lovelace (Jennifer), Brach Manuel (Amber), Elizabeth Manuel, Katelin Pierce, and Samuel Pierce; and great-grandchildren: Zander and Skylar Lovelace; and Jadyn, Mariah, and Christopher Barnes; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister Phyllis Sherwood; sister, Geraldine Hunsinger; brother-in-law, Donald Hunsinger; sister, Beverly Allis; brother-in-law, Gene Allis; brother, Rush "Buzzy" Pierce, Jr.; sister-in-law, Beatrice Pierce; and sister, Susan Pierce. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. Burial will be private in Bath National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montour Falls Fire Department, P. O. Box 369, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
