Douglas E. Bingham, 76, of Burdett, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at home. He was born in Waverly, NY on August 23, 1946, the son of Clifton and Elizabeth Bingham. Doug served with the US Navy Construction Battalion 62 during Vietnam from 1968-1972 where he served two tours. He attended Morrisville College where he received a degree in Agriculture Business. Doug retired as an Industrial Electrician from Shepard Niles in Montour Falls.
Doug was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed all animals and loved working outside with anything that grew. He liked antique tractors, Western movies, reading-especially about history, and had a great fondness for ice cream. Doug liked over-engineering everything he built. He enjoyed making friends and keeping in touch with his siblings. Doug looked like a big gruff fella, but was a teddy bear to all that knew him.
Doug was predeceased by his wife Darlene in 2014. He is survived by his children, Amy Bingham (A.J. Matwiejow) and Ben (Robin) Bingham; and two grandchildren, Alexis and Owen Bingham.
A service will be held privately by the family, with a burial at Union Cemetery of Hector. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Burdett Volunteer Fire Department, 4124 Lake Ave., Burdett, NY 14818 or Care First of the Southern Tier, 3805 Meads Creek Rd., Painted Post, NY 14870.
