Condolences
Gayle, Jenny, Mike and Family - So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. - Suse Brown Jelliff and husband Ron
Losing a mom is never easy. Especially a mom like yours who took such and interest in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Your mom was special, in so many ways. She was my mom's best friend, our true family friend, and an integral part of our extended family while we were growing up. I fondly remember the picnics in Havana Glen, our back porch, trips to Seneca Lake when you rented Dimick's cottage. What great times we had together.
Though we have all seemed to go our separate ways and directions, your family will always be a part of me. In recent years Donna and I would stop to visit sometime around Christmas holiday, bring Lue a poinsettia, and get caught up. Donna and I would giggle because your mom would go on and on about all the grandkids, their lives, their visits, their trials and tribulations. For us, we had trouble keeping everyone straight. Is that Genny's child, or Gayle's or Michael's that Lue is talking about. We would always leave your mom feeling better after our visit, due to her undying zest for life and genuine interest in everyone and everything around her.
We will miss your mom,as I am sure you will. Rest assured; she was one of the most special people I have ever come to meet. If you believe in God, as I do, I can't imagine you mom not being in a wonderful place right now. She might even be playing a hand of "500" with Betty. Love you always.....Laur
Lue was my next door neighbor all my life. She was always kind with a great sense of humor. I will always remember our sailing / swimming adventure on the lake !
"Lue Lue" was our Broadway neighbor for many years. Our kids raised a Guiding Eyes for the Blind pup with her guidance. She was a lovely lady that we admired. Cathy Pelchar
My deepest sympathies to Lue's family. She will be missed. I have known Lue for many years through the OMCS water aerobics and later in our weekly swim sisters meetings on Monday afternoons.
Over the years she told us many stories of training dogs for guiding eyes. We listened to her advise on everything from traveling, plants, crafts and most important, her children, grandchildren and great grands. She was very proud of her family.
My husband passed away in June of 2020, Having had the experience of losing her husband to cancer as well, she spent a long time on the phone with me giving me comfort and consolation that truly touch my heart.
I will miss her quick wit, friendly smile, and welcoming personality.
I believe that she is in heaven with her husband, and family members that passed before her. Also, all those wonderful dogs that enriched her life for all those years.
May she rest in peace.
I will forever be thankful to Mrs. Hessling for introducing me to being a puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. That 4-H experience led me to raising 6 puppies over the course of my life. Her kindness and patience were so important to my success as a young girl.
Lue is one of those people who will live in our hearts forever because she involved herself in so many pursuits that have created memories. Gayle, Jennifer, and Michael, I am grieving with you. She was an amazing lady. ❤️
My dearest memory is the time she came to Chattanooga. She was talking to my daughter Brittany and found out she wanted to be a princess. She went back home and cut down an old prom dress to fit a 4 year old and mailed to her.
Gayle, Jennifer, Michael and family,
I’m at a loss for words. Aunt Lue was very special to me. I always enjoyed our chats and am so glad her and Mom stayed in touch all these years. We will miss her.
With Love,
Kathy Hessling Pelick
I am sad today hearing Lue has passed. What a fine lady. What I am sad about is that we talked on the phone once in a while and exchanged letters over the years. I heard that a large tree had fallen on her property. I said to myself I should call Lue. I didn't get to it and that makes me sad. I missed on last fine conversation.
How did I know Lue? I was 4-H Agent for Schuyler County some years ago. ( The job I hold most dear in my life.) I spent many evenings in Lue's living room for 4-H Dog Obedience committee meetings. She also served on our 4-H Program Committee, Board and several other committees. She became a friend and someone I could talk to any time. Her work with 4-H and particularly the 4-H Dog Obedience program benefited so many young people. She was always enthusiastic, soft spoken, the voice of reason, and her laugh was so wonderful!
Rest In Peace Lue you have left behind a great family and community legacy.
