Obituary of Tod C. Blodgett
Tod C. Blodgett, 59, passed away surrounded by loving family October 26, 2023.
Tod was born in Walton, NY to the late Robert Blodgett and Nancy (Davis) Blodgett. He graduated from Walton High School and worked in construction for many years.
Tod was an outstanding dad to five children: Brett Schaffer (Reagan Ball), Brittiny Blodgett, Alicia (Kevin) Gallagher, Keith Blodgett, and Celeste Blodgett. He was a doting grandpa to Jack, Millie, Adeline, Ronan, Emersyn, and Finn. He was a loyal brother to Vicky (Dennis) Fusco, Pete (Linda) Blodgett, (the late) Bob Blodgett, and Toby Blodgett. He was a fun and loving uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was a kind friend to many.
If there was a baseline to being a good dad, Tod far exceeded it. He raised two boys that wouldn't have otherwise had the experience of a loving father. He nurtured three girls who never went without feeling cherished. He valued his friendships and was an open book to whomever crossed his path. He held space for anyone who needed encouragement, or a safe place to be.
Tod made his kids laugh until they cried, terrified the hell out of them for innocent fun, taught them that integrity and being kind are prerequisites to success, and that there is no maximum amount of love one has to share.
Tod was quick and witty, sharp, wild, and ridiculous at times. He never stopped talking, but told captivating stories (that we choose to believe are all true). He took pride in his work and made even the most arduous tasks meaningful and important. He was forgiving and generous. He was the definition of resilience. His kids were the sun, moon, and stars to him.
He will be missed beyond measure. And never, ever forgotten.
A memorial will be held in Tod's honor 2 - 5pm Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at the Montour Moose Club: 2096 Co Rd 14, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
