Obituary of Frank "Joe" Hammond

Frank “Joe” Hammond, 65, of Montour Falls, NY passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. He was born in Montour Falls, NY on September 30, 1957 the son of Frank and Helen Hammond and graduated from Watkins Glen High School. On May 12, 1979, he married Penny Moore in Beaver Dams, NY. Joe was a truck driver for over 30 years, retiring in 2020. He was a current board member for the Town of Dix. Joe enjoyed watching NASCAR and Western movies, and listening to classic Country music. He also enjoyed refurbishing tractors. He cherished his pick-up trucks. He made sure they were always in pristine condition. Joe loved going to fairs and traveling West. His dream was to live in Kansas. Joe loved and cared for his family and looked forward to visits from his grandchildren. He loved his goats and cats, and had a crow named John Henry that he fed every day. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Penny Hammond; daughter, Danielle (Jesse) Gingrich of Burdett, NY; son, Waylon Hammond of Watkins Glen, NY; sisters, Ruth Maxwell of TN, Nancy (Kevin) Reynolds of Corning, NY and Linda (Lee) Bockus of VA; brothers, Bill (Jeannie) Hammond of WY and Kenny Hammond; grandchildren, Emma Gingrich, Liam Hammond and Connor Hammond; one aunt, and by several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Jim and Mike Hammond. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 4-7 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N.
