Obituary of Tyler R. Schouten

Tyler R. Schouten, age 80 of 2664 Church Road, Reading Center, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, NY. Tyler was born August 24, 1940 in Montour Falls, New York, the son of the late Harry J. and Louella E. (Leonard) Schouten. A 1958 graduate of Watkins Glen High School, Watkins Glen, NY, Tyler was a member and PER of Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546 and Montour Falls Moose Lodge #426. He was retired from his job as shipping supervisor at Akzo Salt, Watkins Glen, NY. In addition to his parents, Tyler was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sally A. (Veitch) Schouten, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Schouten and sister, Sheryl Malley. Tyler is survived by his son, Stephen Schouten of Williamsville, NY; son and daughter-in-law Adam and Jaclyn Schouten of Rock Stream, NY; sister and brother-in-law Sally Lou and William O'Bryan of Haines City, Florida; sister Linda McDougald of Haines City, Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jamie and Diane Veitch of Saratoga Springs, NY; grandsons Tyler Schouten of Waverly, NY and Ryan Schouten of Williamsville, NY. To honor Tyler's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. Memorial donations may be made to the Watkins Glen Fire Department, the Schuyler County Volunteer Ambulance Association or the Schuyler County Office of the Aging Meals on Wheels Program.
