Obituary of Joann G. LaFever
Joann G. LaFever, 91, passed into glory on February 3, 2020 at home in Beaver Dams, NY after an extended illness. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ira Cole LaFever, Jr., son, Scott LaFever (Nancy Hammond), her parents, Lynn and Edna (Alley) Griffin, brother, Charles Griffin, sister, Barbara Carroll, and numerous grandchildren.
She leaves behind children, Ronald (Linda Swaim) LaFever and Joan (James Rose) LaFever-Rose of Beaver Dams, NY, Susan (Javier Fernandez) LaFever of Madrid, Spain, Ira (Elizabeth Souza) LaFever of Raleigh, NC, and Martin (Tammy Havens) LaFever of Prattsburgh, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Jane Ferris of San Diego, CA and Janis Savory of Marble Falls, TX.
Joann was born in Austin, MN and moved to Corning as a young child. She retired as a registered nurse from Corning Hospital. She loved to take pictures, paint, cook, garden, read, make dolls and travel. She was a gentle and loving soul who devoted her life to her family, extended family and community. She will be greatly missed.
According to her wishes there will be no viewing, calling hours or funeral services but family and friends are invited to participate in a memorial service in July 2020 (Date and location to be announced). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to CareFirst (Hospice) in Coppers Plains, Schuyler County Office of the Aging, or Monterey Baptist Church.
