Obituary of Charles B. Strong

Charles B. Strong, 78, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018. He was born in Elmira on December 30, 1939, the son of John D. and Ethel Strong. Chuck was the previous owner of Wigwams Bait & Tackle in Montour Falls and retired from Laborers Local #785. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1546, long time member and Past Master of Myrtle-Jefferson Lodge #131 F&AM, and High Priests of Watkins Chapter #182 R.A.M. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, John Strong, Donnie Strong and Richard Strong. Chuck is survived by his longtime companion, Carolyn (Doane) Christensen; two daughters, Bettelynn (Anthony) Bravo of Reading Center, and Pamlea (Louis) Antunez of Eastchester, NY; three sisters, Dolores Strong, Janice Dean and Barbara Saunders all of Gillett, PA; six grandchildren, Louis Antunez IV, Jess Antunez, Jakob Antunez, Troye Cornwall, Joshua Bravo, and Angelina Bravo; and by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the Elks Lodge #1546, 300 N. Madison Ave., Watkins Glen. A service will begin at 3:00 pm followed by a reception for family and friends. Private burial will take place in Gillett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1344 University Ave., Suite 270, Rochester, NY 14607. Envelopes will be available at the lodge.
