Condolences
I was greatly saddened by the death of George Eisman in April 2017. He was a very important person in my life. He was one of the first vegan speakers I'd ever heard back in 1990 when I initially attended the North Vegetarian Vegetarian Summerfest. I remember him noting during that talk, way back when, that his two children were "vegan from birth." I had never heard those words put together before, and the notion stays with me in memory to this day. That conference, for which he played no small part, was the impetuous for my conversion to the vegan lifestyle, no less. As many people know, I'm the author of "101 Reasons Why I'm a Vegetarian" and the coordinator for Veggie Pride Parade NYC. George spoke at the VPP post-parade rally/expo in 2010 to a very enthusiastic audience, as I recall. I know that he was the first vegan dietician that NAVS had for a consultant. So sad. I will miss you, George. God bless you; R.I.P.
George, Thank you for your hard work and positive contribution to this world. Thank you for all the animal lives you've saved. The love and compassion you shared in your life stays here and will continue to spread. Meet you on the other side my friend.
I am deeply saddened upon just hearing the news of George's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting George and hearing him speak during my time as an intern at Farm Sanctuary. I admire all of the work that he has done for the vegan movement. He has certainly touched many lives including mine and will be greatly missed.
I had the pleasure of meeting George at a talk he gave in Pittsburgh sponsored by Vegan Pittsburgh. In that one hour, I learned more than I could have imagined. I remember his genuine passion when he spoke. He will be missed! My deepest condolences for Claire and the family!
Sarah, I am thinking of you every day, my friend. I was hoping for another summer. And another...George inspired so much sweetness in my life, and will be with me in every wild plant foraging moment, including today's.
Rise in power, George Eisman.
We miss you George. Your kindnesses and clarity of thought shone brightly in a confused world. Condolences to your family and friends whom we hold dear. We remember your gentle ways and were glad to walk with you for a while. Love, Freya
May George's joyful, caring, compassionate, and wise soul continue to inspire all of us who had the good fortune of knowing him and whose lives he touched. Thoughts of peace to all who miss him dearly.

Blessings to your family, especially Claire and Sarah who I know. George was an early inspiration to both myself and my husband, Stan. I can see him now holding a bag of spinach at the first Pittsburgh Public Market during one of the many talks I heard him present, and mentioning how easy it is to eat a whole food, plant based diet for vibrant health! George was a legend, and I miss him at NAVS already...May his beautiful and kind soul rest in peace.
George came to San Antonio several times to speak to my vegan group, he stayed with me and we became dear friends. He spoke of his love for his children more than anything. Showed me videos of Sarah singing. He also told me that the way to get people to go vegan was not to appeal to their emotions, but to tell them how to be healthy. He had a compassionate answer for everything. So much knowledge in one humble person. The last time he came, he left me new sheets with tiny pixies on them and I felt so loved! He liked chocolate covered ginger for a treat! He was so sweet with my dogs and they loved him too, I am heartbroken that he is no longer here with us and his children. Of all people who could have beat lung cancer, I thought maybe George Eisman may just be one of them. He was magical. The last time we spoke on the phone, he spoke of his love for Claire Holzner, and I was so relieved to hear that she was with him at the end of his precious life. Tears...
We are sorry for your loss. We heard Mr. Eisman speak at the Vegetarian Summerfest and at the Animal Rights Conference.
We really respected and liked him very much and his stand for health, wellness, and the animals. Take care during this time and our thoughts are with you.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth and Mark Peters
The world has lost a very special soul. Sending my love and sympathy to Claire, Sarah, and the rest of Georges family and friends. I always looked forward to seeing George at Summerfest, Hoe Down, at our events in Cleveland where he spoke to many, and in Florida on a few occasions. George was always willing to share his wealth of knowledge on plant based nutrition, wild edible plants, and much more.
I don't think there is anyone who could fit more important information into a short time frame than George.
Like losing a tall majestic tree, George is irreplaceable.
George will be missed my many, but will be remembered by many as well.
Serenity and Peace to you, George.
We are so sorry to hear of George's passing. I first met George in the 1980s and always admired the vegan outreach he did. George was a kind individual and will be greatly missed by all of us at The Vegetarian Resource Group.
In August 2009, George Eisman made a presentation at our home to about 80 invited people that we were trying to educate about plant based eating. George's presentation was well received and many told us months later that George helped to change their life to be more healthy with plant based eating. George was an inspiration to my wife and I to continue this wonderful journey.

My condolences to George Eisman's family. I am sure you are all incredibly proud of the amazing work he has done. He has influenced so many people to live noble lives. He will always be remembered and appreciated!
I knew George through Farm Sanctuary Hoe Downs and attended some of his talks; my daughter and I catered an event in Albany where he spoke on The Ethics of Diet. He was always smiling and friendly, and he always spoke so thoughtfully, you could hear the kindness of his soul vibrating in his voice. I'm sad he is no longer with us in body, but I'm confident his spirit is part of the Omnipresent. <3
I met George at a talk he had at the cocoa beach public library in the late 90s. I learned so much. He put at ease a lot of concerns my wife and I had about raising vegan children. I will always be indebted to him.
He stayed at our house on a couple of his trips and really did lead me on field trips through our neighborhood lookin for the edible plants.
George inspired me through his workshops at Summerfest and this year's gathering will not be the same. I am so sorry for your loss.
My condolences to George's family. I was fascinated by his vegan nutrition knowledge when he spoke at Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen.
I have been an advocate and supporter of George Eisman for many years. He was an incredible man to all animals and humans. He will be sorely missed in the community and throughout the world.
So sorry to hear of George's passing. I remember meeting him shortly after he arrived in Watkins Glen. Always kind and soft spoken...shared his nutritional knowledge openly with everyone. My thoughts are with his family.
Sad to say goodbye to a special friend... I met George at Vegetarian Summerfest more than 20 years ago, and always looked forward to hearing him speak at my favorite annual event. He was a true friend of the earth... a kind and gentle spirit with a wonderful, sharp wit and wry sense of humor... an inspiration to me as a person and fellow veg/vegan advocate. You will be missed, George. Peace...
The world has lost a great vegan advocate.
I am so extremely sorry to know that George has left this earth of ours. His legacy lives on and on through all of you, his family that he loved so dearly, and through his work. Never has there been such a man on this planet who effected the world so positively and as beautifully as he has. Every cell, molecule and atom in my body is mourning his departure. I cannot imagine the incredible pain and grief that all of you must be feeling.
The world has lost a very kind and gentle person. All of us who love animals are grateful for George and his life's work. Sending love and prayers to Claire and all of George's family.
George, my life-long friend and confidant, you have moved on to a place of peace and freedom from pain. But you have left behind beloved family and friends who will have to endure the pain of your loss. Your intelligence, your strength and your pure goodness have left an indelible mark upon all who were privileged to know you. We will never forget you because you will always be in our hearts, our minds and our souls. Love always, Wayne
