Obituary of Genevieve Potter

Genevieve (Bird) Potter, 93, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 26, 1922 in Ridgebury, PA, a daughter of the late Lyle and Esther (Burt) Bird. Mrs. Potter retired as Administrative Manager in Avian and Aquatic Animal Medicine at the NYS Veterinary College Cornell University. She was a member of the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church for many years. She is survived by her sons, Robert C. (Sandra) Potter, Jr. of Vestal, NY, David L. (Paula) Potter of Chula Vista, CA, and Thomas L. (Mary Margaret) Potter of Milbridge, ME; granddaughters, Kristen (David) Webster and Kimberly Potter of Lockport, NY; grandsons, Zachary and Benjamin of Chula Vista, CA; sister, Grace (Jack) Davis of Horseheads; brother-in-law, Charles Lovell of Odessa; great granddaughter, Kaylee Anne Webster of Lockport; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col Robert C. Potter; sister, Cleo Lovell; and brother, Ray Bird. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm Saturday at the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, 305 Church St. in Odessa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Genevieve's memory to the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 203, Odessa, NY 14869 or to a charity of your choice.
