Obituary of Constance Gooley
Constance O'Connor Gooley, 76, of Montour Falls, entered unto rest on Friday, October 9, 2015 at her home. She was born in Glens Falls, NY on June 26, 1939, the daughter of the late Edwin and Constance O'Connor. Connie graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls, received her BA from the College of New Rochelle, and her MLS from SUNY Albany. On November 18, 1961, she married Donald Gooley at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls.
Connie was an English Teacher and a Librarian for over 30 years. She taught English at Queensbury Central School and was a librarian at St. Mary's Academy, South Glens Falls Jr. High School,Canisteo Central School and Watkins Glen Central School. She was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Catholic Daughters and Adirondack Voices. Connie enjoyed reading, gardening, travel, shopping (retail therapy!), boating, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald Gooley; daughters, Anne (Bob) Hewitt of Downingtown, PA, Mary Sicignano of New Haven, CT; sons, Tim Gooley of Rockford, IL, Terry Gooley of Montclair, NJ, Pat (Laura) Gooley of Odessa, FL; a sister, Nancy Dufrain of Plattsburgh, NY; sister-in-law, Colleen O'Connor Donohue of Glens Falls; twelve grandchildren, Jonathan, Kayla, Joshua, Megan, Patrick, Eric, Ryan, Aaron, Lauren, Jack, Liam and Eileen; one great granddaughter Leah; nephews, Edwin and Connor; niece Andrea; and by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Edwin O'Connor, and by her brother-in-law, Chuck Dufrain.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads. Burial will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery in South Glens Falls on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 388 Upper Oakwood Ave., Elmira, NY 14903.
