Obituary of Gertrude Phoenix
Gertrude (Trudy) D. Phoenix, 95, of Alpine, NY, and formerly of Oxford, NY and Susquehanna, PA, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Trudy was born in North Tarrytown, NY on November 20, 1919 to Oscar and Gertrude Deim.
She is survived by her husband Edward Phoenix, having just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her sons, Kingsley (Cindy) Robinson of Montrose, PA, Ted Robinson of Oxford, NY, Michael Phoenix of Portland, Oregon, Dale Hastings of Oneida, NY, and daughter Susan (Robert) Fair of Alpine, NY; grandchildren, Jim Robinson, Penni Sue Bradley, Toni Robinson, Robin Fidurski, Aaron Robinson, David Robinson, Lisa Eccleston, Lori Fazzary, Anne Quick, Edward Stone, Martha Fair, Hurdon Hastings, Harlan Hastings, Cheryl Hastings, and Hugh Hastings, 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and one special nephew, Jack (Miriam) Murphy of Hamden, CT.
Trudy was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Maria, and Hildegard, brothers, Oscar, Gerhardt, William, Theodore, Ernest, and a son, Hurdon Hastings, Jr.
Trudy retired from Simmons Precision Instruments, Norwich, NY after 25 years of service. After retirement, she and Edward enjoyed many winters in Zephyrhills, FL. She enjoyed reading, camping, working at the Susquehanna Library in Susquehanna, PA and spending time with family. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Cayutaville United Methodist Church, County Rd. 6 & Cayutaville Rd., Cayutaville, NY, with Pastor Steven DeWalt officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cayutaville United Methodist Church.
