Obituary of Yolanda Holmes

Yolanda L. Holmes, 66, of Springwater, and formerly of Montour Falls, ended her battle with breast cancer on Thursday, April 30, 2015. She was born in Montour Falls on December 6, 1948, the daughter of the late Horace and Betty Degraw Holmes. She graduated from Odessa High School and Fingerlakes Community College. Yolanda was a nurse at The LaRue House and Southview Nursing Home. She enjoyed drawing, horseback riding, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Melissa Guild of Watkins Glen, Carlton (Michele) Guild of Watkins Glen, Angela (Michael) Costello of Charlotte, NC, Ameigh Coates of Springwater, and Rindy Tokarz of Honeoye; a sister, Fran (Ron) Pierce of Watkins Glen; a brother, Richard Holmes of Montour Falls; eleven grandchildren, Joseph Schliesmann, Brittany Guild, Kyle Tokarz, Bridgette Guild, Alexandra Coates, Thomas Coates, Garrett VanOstrand, Aleice Guild, Dana Guild, Alaina Costello, and Sophia Maloney; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jason Coates in 2014. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 4-6 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A service will follow at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Yolanda's name to Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
