Obituary of Alene Green

Alene G. Green, 76, of Trumansburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Cayuga Medical Center. She was born in Bennettsburg on May 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Millard and Marquerite (VanLone) Dickens. She received her nursing degree from SCT BOCES. She was retired from the Broome County Developmental Center, working at the Lincoln St. and Abbott Rd. locations. She was also previously employed at Schuyler Hospital and Cayuga Medical Center. Alene loved quilting, cooking gardening and family gatherings. She had a true love for nursing. She will be sadly missed by her family. She was predeceased by her son Craig Alan Green; son-in-law Harry Jayne, and by a sister, Esther Button. Alene is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Roland "Bob" Green; children, Roland Green Jr. of Trumansburg, Pearl (Paul) Jayne of Dundee, Bonnie Jayne of Newfield, Paul Green of Watkins Glen, Joan (Dan) Thorpe of Trumansburg, Amy (George) Wood of Newfield, and Emily (Gary) House of Montour Falls; a sister, Alice Donahue of Burdett; a brother, Benjamin Dickens of Burdett; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Relatives and Friends are invited to call on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 12-2 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
