Obituary of George Confer
George (Bud) Roy Confer, 90, of Montour Falls and Lakeland, Florida, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in Lakeland. He was born in Montour Falls on February 2, 1924, the son of the late G. Roy and Lena Nelson Confer. He served with the US Marine Corp during WWII from 1941-1945. Bud was one of the founding members of the Seneca Chief's Drum and Bugle Corp. He was also an instructor for the Squires Jr. Drum and Bugle Corp and the Pages, a feeder Corp. He was a member and past chief of the Montour Falls Fire Department, the Mechanics Club, Watkins Glen Elks #1546 and the American Legion #4 of Lakeland Florida. Bud is survived by wife of 48 years Ann; his children, Sharon(William) Van of Huntsville Alabama, Karen(Dan) Rock of Odessa, Jeffrey (Linda) Confer of Montour Falls, and Jason (Lisa) of Crofton Maryland; four grandsons, Brian (Joy) Rock, Chad and Tate Confer, and Cayden Confer; three Great-grandchildren, Gavin, Henry and Samantha Rock. He was predeceased by his step-mother Eleanor and by his sister Betty. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Seneca Union Cemetery in Valois.
