Obituary of Caden H. Ruben
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Caden Harold Ruben, who left us far too soon on May 20, 2025, at the age of 18. Caden was a bright and spirited young man who brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him.
Born on August 24, 2006, Caden grew up in Spencer, New York, and most recently lived in Montour Falls. He graduated from Spencer-Van Etten High School in 2024 and worked with pride for Utter Well Drilling in Lodi, NY, where he was known for his strong work ethic and positive attitude. Caden was also a proud member of the Lockwood Fire Department, where he served his community with dedication and heart.
Caden had a deep passion for life and adventure. He began wrestling at the age of 6, and the sport quickly became a central part of his life. The wrestling community, like his summer boating crew on Seneca Lake, was more than just a group of teammates and friends - they were family. He loved everything with wheels and an engine - especially cars and dirt bikes - and spent many joyful summer days on the lake. His loyal dog, Brutus, was always by his side, and his wide circle of friends meant the world to him. His energy, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Caden is survived by his loving parents, Richard and Denise Ruben; his grandparents, Clair and Nora Marquart; his aunts, Lorrie Torres, and Jessica Michetti (Matthew); his uncle, Christopher Ruben (Monique); and many cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Richard and Sharon Ruben.
Caden’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Calling hours to honor and remember Caden will be held on Friday, May 30, from 4-7pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, May 31, 2025, beginning at 3:00pm at the Watkins Glen Yacht Club, 300 S. Clute Park Rd., Watkins Glen, NY, where family and friends will gather to share memories, laughter, and love in honor of Caden’s incredible spirit.
