Obituary of Judith "Judy" D. Pearce

Judith “Judy” D. Pearce, age 77, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family, on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Judy was born in Elmira, NY on October 17, 1947, daughter to the late Alfred G. and Dorothy M. (Miller) Dalrymple.

Judy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Albert W. Pearce, Jr.; children, Rebecca Pearce, Ted (Nicki) Pearce; grandchildren Ainsley and Emmie Pearce, brother and sister-in-law, A. James and Lois Dalrymple; and nieces, Kelly (Mike), Payton and Rylie Brouthers and Holly (Doug), Macie and Emily Graham.

Judy graduated from Horseheads High School in 1965, Alfred State College in 1967, was married in April 1968 prior to moving to Alaska in January 1969 with Albert, to support his service in the United States Army. In August 1970, Albert and Judy returned to Watkins Glen, to start their family. Becky (who we think was her favorite child) was born in August 1971, and Judy continued her commitment to her family and church community. Ultimately, Judy entered into her career of being a school bus driver for the Watkins Glen School District. For over 40 years, she took great pride and joy in transporting students to and from school and countless activities and sporting events. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, confidant and sounding board to anyone and everyone who engaged her. She selflessly gave her love and time to ensure nobody had an empty stomach, or did not feel the warmth of her heart. She was an extremely active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Watkins Glen, and volunteered countless hours to a wide variety of community activities. She took great pride in her home, always ensuring flowers were watered, bird feeders were full, weeds were pulled, cars were washed, and... She loved her weekly conversations with her granddaughters, getting a good chuckle out of their stories, witty comebacks, and life activities.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5-7pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 North Genesee St. Montour Falls, NY 14865. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Watkins Glen, 520 North Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Interment will follow at The Ridge Cemetery, Town of Veteran.
