Obituary of Claude E. Marsh

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Claude E. Marsh, age 87, at home in Alpine, NY. Claude passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. He was born on April 23, 1937 in Elmira, NY to the late Claude Marsh, Sr. and Alice (Crane) Marsh.

Claude attended Odessa-Montour Central School. He was employed for many years as a meat cutter at the IGA Market in Montour Falls, NY and was also employed for several years as a concrete mixer driver for B.R. DeWitt in Burdett, NY.

Claude is survived by his wife of 69 years, M. Jean (Ziegler) Marsh; his children, Karen Merrill (Gary), Kenneth Marsh, Diane Eberhardt (Thomas), and David Marsh (Carol); a sister, Linda Peet; a half-sister, Theodora Drabinski, three half-brothers, James Marsh, John Marsh, and Jerry Marsh; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sons, Glenn Marsh and Gary Marsh; a sister, Nola Heal; and a brother, William Marsh.

Claude and Jean raised their family of six children in Odessa, NY. He enjoyed time spent with his family, and also motorcycling, coon hunting, and snowmobiling.

A memorial service to honor Claude's life will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to a charity of your choice.
