Obituary of Robert E. "Bob" Simmons

Robert E. "Bob" Simmons, 85, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Schuyler Hospital. Born on December 7, 1939, to Thomas and Margaret (Nichols) Simmons, Bob leaves behind a legacy of love for animals and local community involvement.

Predeceased by his parents, daughter Lisa Minakowski, and brother Richard Simmons, Bob's memory will be remembered by his surviving family. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Joe) Barrett of Middletown, DE; sons, Brian (Betsy) Simmons of Raleigh, NC, and Scott (Betty Ann) Simmons of Media, PA; son-in-law, Chris Minakowski of Huntingtown, MD; brother, Tim (Peggy) Simmons of Flushing, NY; two former spouses, Jacqueline Peddigree and Mary McNichols; along with 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A proud graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Bob enjoyed a fulfilling career working many jobs. His last being with Citgo Convenience Store in Montour Falls before fully retiring. His passions included vegan cooking, horticulture, rescuing cats, and volunteering in his community and restoring antique furniture.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 am at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 North Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
