Obituary of Jean Hopper

Jean Hopper, age 88, of Millport, NY passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. Jean was born in Montour Falls, NY on July 24, 1936 to the late Frank and Dorothy (Fox) Gardner. Jean is predeceased by her loving husband, John (2000); daughters Sherry (1991) and Cindy (2012); son John, Jr. (2024); sister Alice Gardner; and brother William Gardner. She is survived by daughter Bonnie (Roger) Walton of Elmira, NY; sons Terry Hopper (Cindy Maine) of Horseheads, NY, William Hopper of Millport, NY, and Michael Hopper of Canton, GA; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Jo Hopper; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Jean attended Odessa-Montour High School. She married her husband John on October 4, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Montour Falls, NY. She worked at Chef's Diner, the A&P Plant, and as a home health aide for Chemung County Public Health. Jean enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and Bingo, and shopping. She was a lifetime member of the Montour Falls Moose Lodge #426 and was active in the Auxiliary there for many years. Friends and relatives are invited to call on from 2:00-3:00pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 North Genesee St. Montour Falls, NY 14865. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montour Falls Moose Lodge #426, 2096 State Route 14, Montour Falls, NY 14865 or Bethany Manor, 3005 Watkins Rd.
