Obituary of Robert N. Mizzoni Sr.
Robert N. Mizzoni, Sr., 93, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. He was born in Corning, NY on September 15, 1930 the son of the late Nazzerno and Rose (Pietro) Mizzoni. Bob graduated from Corning Free Academy and Alfred State College. He served with the US Navy from 1948-1952.
Bob was President of First National Bank in Painted Post and Montour Falls. He then became manager of Chemung Canal Trust Company in Montour Falls. Following his career in banking, Bob owned the Schuyler Hi-Lites. He was also a financial advisor for Schuyler County Headstart.
Bob was a longtime member of the Watkins Glen-Montour Falls Lions Club holding several positions as well as Past District Governor in New York district. He was a communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church where he served as an usher for many years.
Bob was an avid golfer and coin collector. He loved watching football and working on his computer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Delores; daughters, Mary Beth (John) Mizzoni-Diaz of East Islip, Long Island and Gina (Tim) Mizzoni-McLean of Corning; son, Robert (Kate) Mizzoni, Jr. of Watkins Glen; sister, Theresa Spaccio of Corning; six grandchildren, Sam, Sabrina and Gabby McLean, Michael Mizzoni, Mackenzie (Dan) Tillinghast and Kamryn Mizzoni; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Dominick, John and Anthony Mizzoni.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Watkins Glen-Montour Falls Lions Club, Guide Dog Foundation of New York, or St. Mary's of the Lake Church.
